The UTC Freshman Senate is a team of student leaders in their first year of study who want to learn and develop as leaders on our campus. The Freshman Senate meets on Wednesdays at 5p each week.
Some goals of this group are:
- To create an interest in freshman about student government
- To foster leadership at the early stages of student enrollment
- Obtain the freshmen view on the campus and observe how things work
- To be a liaison between the freshman class and the SGA
- Plan and develop freshmen and campus programming
- Develop the students as leaders in areas of citizenship, service, diversity, and more!
Freshman Senators are chosen through first an application process and then through interviews.
What is the time committment?
The weekly time committment for the fall semester includes:
- One Freshman Senate & Committee Meeting
- Participation in activites and events
The weekly time committement for the spring semester includes:
- One Freshman Senate & Committee Meeting
- One SGA Student Senate Meeting
- Once SGA Senate Committee Meeting
- Participation in activities and events
